Fwd: Fw: Thot for today -- Are You Listening?

Are You Listening?

Back when the telegraph was the fastest method of long-distance communication, a young man applied for a job as a Morse Code operator. Answering an ad in the newspaper, he went to the office address that was listed.

When he arrived, he entered a large, busy office filled with noise and clatter, including the sound of the telegraph in the background. A sign on the receptionist's counter instructed job applicants to fill out a form and wait until they were summoned to enter the inner office.

The young man filled out his form and sat down with the seven other applicants in the waiting area. After a few minutes, the young man stood up, crossed the room to the door of the inner office, and walked right in.

Naturally the other applicants perked up, wondering what was going on. They muttered among themselves that they hadn't heard any summons yet.

They assumed that the young man who went into the office made a mistake and would be disqualified.

Within a few minutes, however, the employer escorted the young man out of the office and said to the other applicants, "Gentlemen, thank you very much for coming, but the job has just been filled."

The other applicants began grumbling to each other, and one spoke up saying, "Wait a minute, I don't understand. He was the last to come in, and we never even got a chance to be interviewed. Yet he got the job. That's not fair!"

The employer said, "I'm sorry, but the last several minutes while you've been sitting here, the telegraph has been ticking out the following message in Morse Code: 'If you understand this message, then come right in. The job is yours.' None of you heard it or understood it. This young man did. The job is his."

We are so busy living in a world that is full of noise and clatter, like that office. People are distracted and unable to hear the still, small voice of God as He speaks in creation, in the Scriptures, and in the life and work of Jesus Christ.

So I ask you, as I ask myself, "Are you listening, or are you waiting to be called? Do you hear the Lord when he speaks to you?

Since the president is such a vocal apologist for Islam and its tenets and after having viewed the first lady's choice of attire on several occasions I am forced to reassess my original utter distaste for the burqa.  It may be the one fashion statement this administration can make to help preserve what little, if any, dignity this administration may have left.

Derp! They sure showed Obama! Cause his wife is black, you see. And he has on a few occasions said things that weren't total condemnations of Islam in all its forms. Derp!

Please provide just one example of this. You can't because it's not true. Provide a *factual real example* and then we can talk.

"...after having viewed the first lady's choice of attire on several occasions I am forced to reassess my original utter distaste for the burqa."

First, why did you have a "distate for the burqa"?? What was so distasteful?

Secondly, you rednecks have *never* been satisfied with what Michelle Obama wears because your default position is to be rude, nasty, sexist, nitpicking, petty idiots about Mrs. Obama's wardrobe. Either her clothes are too cheap and they "disgrace" the nation, or they're too expensive, so how dare she spend so much, or they're too casual, so again with the feeling of utter "disgrace," or her formal gown's color doesn't suit your fancy and so on.

Just by the way, Mrs. Obama isn't competing in some reality tv show, where rightwingers get to vote her off the island based on their middle school mean girl bullying nastiness, even though it's clear that none of you ever really left Middle School either emotionally or intellectually.

And if you're so damned worried about "dignity" then you might just look in the mirror and start learning how to behave like a rational, thoughtful, respectful human being. Perhaps you are so engaged in projecting a lot of nasty crap onto the US Pres & First Lady because you hate yourselves for becoming such irresponsible, pathetic, trivializing, tawdry idiots who truly take the Lord's name in vain when issuing such idiotic nasty spewing diatribes after what was an "ok" story about "listening for god's voice" amidst the clatter.

It's quite clear that you are so invested in your nasty shrieking diatribes over nothing that you have completely *forgotten* what God's voice sounds like, nor do you really care to hear it.

Indulging and congratulating yourselves for sending out "stories" like this does not make up for your bellicose and completely unfounded nastiness.

FAIL on all levels.

Try going back to *really read* the Bible that you so love to wave around but completely ignore... much as you do with the US Constitution.

It's merely saccharine, and then it has that footer. Ye gods.

Well this is an *interesting* mashup. We start with a woefully mis-spelled word, which is mashed up with a hoary old parable resurrected from some crypt or other. In itself, the parable actually offers a *good* lesson about paying attention and hearing what's *real.* So: duly noted, plus if you're religious, the parable also offers the notion that humans should look to their better nature, or God, for insight, and not be *distracted* by a bunch of bullshit, lies and junky noise.

And then there's the rightwing kicker: a gratuitously nasty attacking diatribe *hell*-bent on shitting all over the President and his wife *for no real reason.*

Talking about a clattering clap-trap of risable distracting noisy bullshit, which in no way points towards "listening to the still quiet voice of God." Rather: this does the opposite.

So is William Fortner just another name for Satan? Because it sure seems that way to me (if you believe in such things, that is).

And here, folks, we have clear evidence of the moral, religious, spiritual, intellectual and ethical *vacuum* that rightwingers exist in.

The cognitive dissonance of the three parts of this shitty screed are highly instructive, though.

Huh. The e-mail refers to Jesus and condemns Islam, but clearly refers to the Egyptian god Thot in its subject line.

Curiouser and curiouser.
