Merry Christmas and I'll see you soon.  Love, Grandma and Mother

I found this Christmas Card to be astounding!  Pardon my cynicism.  But, in this age where Nativity scenes are being seized by town fascists, the City of Berkeley is honoring the Wikileaks leaker, and the ACLU is working overtime to ruin everything fine and good about Christmas ... I find this!  From a university, no less .... a place where I would have figured the Socialist faculty would have brain washed the students and taken over the campus PR department ... and would now be promoting Islam or Kwanzaa or whatever.
Here is an honest to God, beautiful Christian thing from a University ... with the student choir, no less!  Maybe there is hope ....
Amazing.

Ashland College Christmas Card

Ashland College in Ohio always does a beautiful Christmas card and this year they have done another one. This should get you into the Christmas Spirit. Make sure you have your speakers on and enjoy.

Why can't you just celebrate Christmas and stop shitting your pants about it?

None of the rest of us care, really.

"Make sure you have your speakers on" is a humongous red flag.

All told a pretty benign "card". Its not even that religious. Not sure why this warrants the Christianist screed.

Also, this Ashland University is both private and Christian affiliated. Of course they would have a Christmas card. The fact that this is somehow surprising to wingnuts or warrants some kind of special hero status for them is just sad. But I guess when you swallow lies about all universities being 100% communist and the ACLU becoming the Christmas Gestapo, facts don't really have a place in your worldview.

Its a private, church affiliated college. Holy crap, are they really so fucking deep in this persecution complex that they can't believe things like this exist?

This e-mail's making the rounds a bit late. Six years late, judging by the URL.

What's wrong with Berkeley honoring Julian Assange? I thought these conservatives ran around with the US Constitution and the Bill of Rights in their pockets (albeit, as we all know 99.9% of them don't know the difference between the US constitution, the Bill of Rights and the Declaration of Independence, but I digress)...

Julian Assange exercised First Amendment rights, and pulled back the curtain to reveal what our nation's govt is up to. So wtf is *wrong* with that??

This hyperventilating, overheated, lying, victimizing nonsense is full of typical false equivalency crap, but I *note* with interest how billionaire David Koch instructed his rightwint thinktank bought-off hack to carefully insert the attack on Assange.

Is Assange letting out too much truth for you, Cock, er, Koch???

May be one of the reasons why this idiocy was sent forth to the dittoheads. Just saying...

"Pardon my cynicism."

It's not really cynicism when you hold beliefs that are a collection of parody and fairy tale all of which are easily disproved by the simple use of Google. Try instead "Pardon my naivete, pessismism or paranoia." Or maybe "Pardon my senility, gullibility or fear-mongering." Or just try the all-inclusive "Pardon my stoopid."

Berkeley did not honor Assange (although he did speak at a conference at UCB seven months before the leaks).

They had debated naming Pfc. Manning, who leaked the cables, a hero for helping us "make informed decisions about war and how it affects our troops around the world," but they ended up not voting on that resolution.

Thanks, Valeyard, for providing more info. I should have *known* this RWF was lies through and through (albeit I stand by what I said about Assange).

The way our military is treating Pfc. Bradley Manning is nothing short of torture and horribly wrong for so many reasons.

Free Bradley Manning!!

P.S. Of course what we see here with this RWF is typical of how rightwing thinktanks dangle a bright shiney object to *distract* conservatives from actually knowing what's *really* going on, much less *question* why things, like the treatment of Bradley Manning, are happening on American soil. Neat deflection of conservatives who are endlessly willing to victimize themselves and feel ever so persecuted to the extent that their self-absorbed selfishness precludes them from being concerned about anything but themselves and their fake little fictional paranoid fantasies.
