Compared to Bush the Feckless, Reagan is indeed a great communicator. In fact, Nixon, Ford, and Bush the Elder were all fairly poor speakers and came across as either shifty, bumbling, or as a howling, inarticulate void. That's probably why the regressive base loves Ronald so much. He could actually speak in complete sentences and, in his own way, was fairly charming. But scrape off the charm and you hit a greedy, selfish core. And don't ever forget that he's harmed this nation in probably irreparable fashion.

But, shit, he sure could tell a joke, couldn't he?

Reagan-worship is so quaint. It's revealing that they need to go back 30 years to find someone they can follow.

Well, yeah. Reagan was an actor. Delivering lines was what he DID his whole career.

Frankly, I never got the "charm" of Reagan, but I can't stand some other popular actors either, so I don't hold it against him as an actor. His performance as a president was obviously a good performance - lots of people liked it, and it sold well at the box office - er, voting booth.

Of course, some grumpy curmedgeons actually like their politicians to be good at running things and good at developing and implementing good policies and that sort of thing. But speaking of quaint - really, that's what seems almost quaint today.

Katz, the white-washing of Bush the Younger's career has already begun. Give it another 20 years, and we can start celebrating his heroic wars, which we totally would have won if liberals hadn't forced us to pull out early, just like Vietnam.

@Valeyard

We're already seeing people talking about how his waterboarding saved lives. So did his tapping of our phones and Internet connections.

And holding people in jail without charges in violation of the Constitution is just what reasonable people do. See? Even Obama does it!

Of course, those same people are the ones who claim that Obama is the one who has taken all of our freedoms away.

Reagan tells great jokes given how long he's been dead.

Time to disinter Reagan's coffin, so all good conservatives can line up to hump it.
