Dallas' Solution
Get 'em off the road WITHOUT making 'em show proof of nationality. Wonder how the ACLU or the Justice Department will get around this one.
Dallas TX's solution to Illegals...Brilliant!!!!

Recently, in the City of Dallas, Texas, they passed an ordinance that if you are pulled over by law enforcement and not able to provide proof of insurance, your car will be towed right away. Afterwards, to retrieve your car after being impounded, you must require proof of insurance to have your car released. This has made it easy for the City of Dallas to remove uninsured cars that are typically driven by mostly illegals. Shortly after "No insurance" ordinance was passed, the Dallas impound lots began to fill up quickly and was full after nine days. Most of the impounded cars were driven by illegals. Not only must you provide proof of insurance to have your car released, you have to pay for the cost of the tow, a $350 fine, and charged $20 for every day their car is kept in the lot. I would suggest other cities across the nation to follow what Dallas , Texas is doing. Not only is it getting uninsured drivers off the road, but it is taking away vehicles driven by illegals that have no insurance.

I can't object to taking cars without insurance off the road.

What I'm sure is also true is that if police are given the discretion to pull over cars at random, they will disproportionately target brown and black drivers, because that's what police do when given the ability to choose their targets at random. If you pull over only brown people, and you discover that a lot of them have no insurance, you create the perception that only brown people don't carry insurance. Which, unsurprisingly, serves the white power structure tremendously well.

Policing the roads to make sure that you're not driving a car without the insurance that the gubbmint requires you to purchase - not to mention the registration of said vehicle, and diver's licensing requirments that go along with all of this - is apparently a good idea.

But requiring people to regsister their firearms or purchase health insurance is a satanic libruhl plot.

I just love right-wing logic.

After they get their cars towed away and they can't afford to get them back, then what? Car thefts up in Dallas?

So it's OK now for the government to make you get insurance?

It's hard to keep up sometimes.

Since this problem is such a runaway success, surely the author can provide a source for these claims.

I hope he can, since I can't find one.

They think that the police state they want to create won't apply to them.

Sure it will, sparky.

And God help you if you forget to put your insurance card in your wallet one day.

And then you'll just bitch about the damned cops, because all you guys ever do is bitch about everything and then demand laws to make everybody else's life a little harder than it has to be.

This is a state wide law and can be enforced anywhere in the state of texas not just in Dallas.

Yes, its terrible that the government is going to make people chip in to cover their own health care expenses instead of just leaching off the rest of us when they get sick.

@ Anon

Its the law in every state, not just Texas.

I haz confuzzled. I thought it was teh worstest to hafs ta buys because the dreaded horrid too big government said so. WTF?

Typical douchey conservative logic. If the law is going to harass minorities: hip hip hooray, let's have more of THOSE laws & an even BIGGER bureaucracy to enforce 'em. Right on.

But if it's something that contards don't feel like doing themselves because they've been brainwashed by RushGlenn (who are paid off by Oligarchs like the Kochs) to believe it's "bad," then the law is "unconstitutional," our sainted "founding fathers" don't "like THAT law," and furthermore, gov't should be shrunk to the size that it can be drowned in a bathtub.

Yeah: I got the picture. Typical conservative racism and ginned up nonsense signifying the usual idiocy of being led around by the nose by likes of RushGlenn. drrrr

Having insurance is a state law that has been in effect for many years, and for those of you that are too stupid to realize why, it's there for your protection, so if someone hits your car, there insurance will pay to get it fixed. I'm sure if we ran into there cars, they would screen blooy murder for us to pay to get it fixed! I would rather pay 2 or 3 hundread buck a year, then play thousans of dollors out of my pocket to fix someones car! Anyone with common sense should understand that! This has nothing to do with black, whites or brown colored skin! Has nothing to do with democrats or republicans!
