Fw: The Breadwinner (yet another informative story!)

Subject: The Breadwinner (yet another informative story!)

To: All Who Care,
“My momma told me that I am the breadwinner for the family.”

I was speaking to an emergency room physician this morning. He told me that a woman in her 20’s came to the ER with her 8th pregnancy. She stated “My momma told me that I am the breadwinner for the family.”

He asked her to explain.

She said that she can make babies and babies get money for the family.

It goes like this: The grandma calls the Department of Child and Family Services and states that the unemployed daughter is not capable of caring for these children. DCFS agrees and states that the child or children will need to go to foster care.

The grandma then volunteers to be the foster parent, and thus receives a check for $1500 per child per month in Illinois . Total yearly income: $144,000 tax-free, not to mention free healthcare (Medicaid) plus a monthly “Linx” card entitling her
to free groceries, etc, and a voucher for 250 free cell phone minutes per month. This does not even include Wick and other welfare programs.

Indeed, grandma was correct in that her fertile daughter is the “breadwinner” in the family.

I hope you share this story with your contacts so they are made aware of how their tax dollars are being spent by the ruling class.

 Cheers,

Sebastian J. Ciancio, M.D. Urologist, Danville Polyclinic, LTD

If your story is true, then these people are committing crimes. Did you report them to the authorities?

I'm calling bullshit.

Ha! and Bullshit! This writer has no knowledge of foster care or any of the the other programs they mentioned. They didn't even spell WIC correctly. If foster care paid more than you need for foster kids we wouldn't have so many kids needing homes. It barely covers their clothing and food.

The rightwing, hating things they don't understand for 30 years.

What is it with the urologists?

Remember this one?

I guess being a urologist just makes you, um, a dick? Pissed off?

Bebe made me wonder, so let's see...

Most states seem to pay about $8,000 a year for an older child, but I can't find the Illinois rates at the moment. This article from two years ago says $4800/year for raising a young special-needs child.

That's hardly making it rain, since raising a child to maturity now costs $222,000.

Also, I see nothing about the groceries or cell phones -- only basic medical coverage is provided.

There are so many things wrong with this email that doesn't make any sense to someone from Illinois (like myself).

Our public benefits card is called a "Link card" (not "Linx"). As someone else mentioned, another program is called "WIC", not "Wick." The cell phone program is a federal program (the Lifeline program) that is available to anyone below the poverty level, not a voucher system given by public benefits offices.

On top of that, average rates for foster care payments in Illinois are $400/month, which is far from the $1500/month quoted in the email.

For a urologist (and, of course, there's no guarantee that the person whose name is attached to this email had anything to actually do with it), there's far too many mistakes to make me believe a word of it.
