Isn't it nice that Obama said no new taxes for those making less than $ 250,000...oops, there's a surprise in Obama's healthcare bill.

We will all be taxed
$150-$250 PER MONTH beginning in January 2011 for the NEW Community Living Assistance Services and Support Act (CLASS Act) that was added to the Reconciliation Bill on Friday night, Mar 19, 2010,  before Congress voted on Sunday, Mar. 21, 2010.

I repeat...EVERYBODY will pay this tax.

It's voluntary, stupid.

Except, of course, everybody who doesn't want to.

I'm confused, I thought choice and voluntary actions were great ideas? Isn't it Republicans who have been wanting to make Social Security an opt in type of system like this for years?

Wait, there I go expecting logic and consistency from Republicans.

Yeah rightttttttttt! Voluntary, ROTFL. Just like paying our taxes are voluntary. Another taxation without representation. Time for more tea parties.

$1800 to $3000 per year per taxpayer over the next 10 years sounds about how much this stupid, overpriced bill will cost the legal Americans. I don't want to guess how many that is because I might be "profiling". We need to change our health care system, but this bill is not the answer!!

Uh oh, someone left the screen door open.

Fox News describes it (minus the scare-terms) this way: "[T]he program will allow workers to have an average of roughly $150 or $240 a month, based on age and salary, automatically deducted from their paycheck to save for long-term care."

Here's someone who feels more positive about it.

Taxes are not voluntary. If it's voluntary, its by definition not a tax.

Some seem to be reaching...

@ Teabagger anon

Its voluntary. And don't cry about taxation without representation when

1) you freaking have representation

and

2) your taxes have gone DOWN under Obama.

Just a whole lot of ignorance, denial, racism and outright stupidity in there.

As a true leftist, I, too, am unsatisfied with this legislation and would have much, much preferred a single-payer system. Yet it was the self-absorbed right who allowed themselves to be astroturfed by the Koch family via their American Progress thinktank to shriek, scream, rant and rave against single payer.

I would welcome SANE and sound constructive criticism from the right on ANY legislation, but: knock knock yoo hoo... that's not what is happening these days. Rather the right - via your elected pols - go into knee-jerk reaction against anything - ANYTHING - proposed by this Dem majority congress. Doesn't matter if the leg will actually benefit you, as a righwinger, your elected reps just knee-jerk against it, and you rightwingers blissfully and joyously go along with the knee-jerk reaction... rather than actually doing your homework and figuring out on your own (yes: use your brains that god gave you to reason and logic) whether what's being proposed is good or not.

I agree that HCR, as passed, is not good legislation, but I totally disagree with righwing knee-jerk diatribes like this that in no way address the real issues and problems in mature adult fashion.

Our health care system sucks big time, is RIDDLED with welfare for BigInsurance, in no small measure thanks to the Tea Party's ridiculous rantings and ravings.

You Tea Partiers better watch out because YOUR socialized Medicare is next on the chopping block. You asked for no "socialized" health care. Well NOW you're gonna find out what that's like. Hope you enjoy yourselves and feel proud of yourselves for the poop you did in fouling your own nest.

That...appears to be a healthcare savings account. To pay for your own health care. Like the ones Republicans were advocating.

@ Katz

Shut up, Shut up, SHUT UP! Don't you know that Republican ideas only work when implemented by Republicans! If a Democrat implements a Republican idea, then it automatically transforms into a socialist plot to take your money and eat your children!

I'm pretty sure that's in the Constitution somewhere. Probably near the back.
