Yes, it is in fact unconstitutional to force American citizens to be searched or detained without probable cause. This is what the Arizona law requires that police must do.

For people who claim to love the Constitution so much, right wingers really don't seem to give a damn when its trampled on in such a blatant manner.

As a business owner I've been collecting Federal I-9 forms showing proof of citizenship for everyone I hire for the 15 years I've been in business. These forms have never, ever been checked by anyone, and my company is 10 miles from the Mexican border. If our government were interested in enforcing immigration they could simply check these forms, or better yet, have employers mail them in. But they don't really care about illegal immigration, and corporate America pays a lot of money to politicians to make sure they won't do anything. The AZ law has one purpose, to get the racist base out to vote Republican.
