What ? No news crews and cameras ? This is how an adult responds and pays respect
to those in uniform.

Uh, how do I put this?? I KNEW about former Pres Bush doing this, plus I had seen reporting and photos of it. W, himself, sought to keep it secret (at least while he was doing it) so as to not distract from the criminal investigation, which is as it should be.

So: kudos to the Bushes for their act of kindness, and yes, it is a way to pay respect to those in uniform.

Needless to say, though, wingers have to LIE and SPIN the story to make it seem as if the eeeevul "liberal media" is refusing to report the story. Go use Google, you jerkwads, and stop INFANTALIZING yourselves by acting like whining crybabies.

If you RWF'ers think that this is an example of "adult" behavior, then why don't you try to behave like an adult, as well, and stop the frickin' lying spin and tantrum throwing over nothing???

Sheesh.

Something smells funny, and it's not the bedpan...

An ER nurse sent a text saying "I am okay"? Isn't a nurse using a patient's phone to send a message as if she were that person kind of unprofessional? Is that really hospital policy? What if the person isn't okay after all - couldn't the hospital be sued? Wouldn't it make more sense for the nurse - or whomever is in charge of contacting family - to just, you know, call the family, and deliver the news? (And technically, that text message might even have been illegal, since it's impersonating someone.)

The above has nothing to do with the photo, but there's something ODD about it.

As for the photo, if BHO had done it, all we'd be hearing about is how he's "using" the soldier for a "photo op" and "disrupting an investigation" for his own "self-promotion".

It's beyond predictable, really.

A nice story cheapened by the pettiness we've
come to expect.

Not mentioned: Obama gave a very thoughtful,
moving eulogy at the Memorial Service, and then
went to visit the wounded after the service.

Is it just me, or is this the weirdest photo ever? It's almost like a vacation shot:

"Yup, and here's Laur an' me posin' with some wounded veteran in the hospital or sumthin'. I misremember where exactly."

Also love the look on the guy's face.

If there were no cameras there...who took the picture?

Beat me to it, Celia: if there were no cameras, then how come there's this photo? But I've also seen other photos and reports after the visit was over.

It's not that unusual for former Presidents to do stuff like this.

Several news reports mentioned that the picture
was taken via cell phone.

"This is how an adult...pays respect to those in uniform."

However, when an entire city is flooded and destroyed an adult can simply flyover and look concerned. This really feels like some effort to wipe away the Katrina flyover gaff.

Sorry, you haven't been getting your RDA of right-wing media. The speech was empty and meaningless, even if the people listening to him didn't realize it.

Ok, so maybe the photo was taken by cell phone & not a camera, but seriously, some photos have been published and this visit has been reported on.

Bush finally did a good deed and didn't make a big deal out of it. As Dickbreath Cheeeeney would say: So??

Let's not forget Mr. Codpiece Mission Accomplished!!!!

Is that how an "adult" pays respect to those in uniform???

If I'm understanding the winger mind correctly, an "adult" pays respect to those in uniform by taunting the enemy to come kill more of his soldiers, because he has plenty more where they came from.
"Bring them on."

The other email that goes around which makes it sounds like he hopped in a pickup truck and drove all night from Dallas to Fort Hood with no protection and Pres. Obama told him not to go. All lies. I live here, I work here in a position that has privy to this information and my wife works at the hospital and got her picture taken with Pres. and Laura Bush when they visited and she's no right-winger and said they were both just the nicest people she's ever met. He actually pulled her out of her office and told her take a picture with him.

There was most definitely security, it was most definitely planned. A former Pres. doesn't just roll through the gate on a military base. There is protocol and procedure to follow out of respect to the position he held.

Not only did Pres. Obama visit with the wounded, he had private meeting with families of the deceased before the memorial ceremony. I know because I was there in the middle of it all. Not some third hand made-up bullshit.
