FW: For your consideration: Color Me Racist

Color Me Racist

Its now official. I'm a racist. No less than a former president of the United States has declared that if I oppose the takeover of 17% of our economy under the guise of health care reform, I hate black people.

According to President Carter, U.S. Rep. Joe Wilson's objection to a 'misstatement' in President Obama's speech to Congress last week was an act "based on racism" and rooted in fears of a black president. And a Rasmussen survey shows that fully 12% of Americans agree with him.

The old media has chimed in, with the left's favorite columnist, Maureen Dowd, going a step further. Rep. Joe Wilson said, "You lie' to Obama. But Maureen Dowd heard, "You lie, boy." Boy being one of the many politically incorrect words the left has decided is an indicator of racism. Point made. Case closed.

Another columnist, E. Danielle Egan, has joined the growing chorus. In the Philadelphia Enquirer, Egan blithely dismissed the app. 2 million protestors who turned out last weekend to protest Obama's policies, writing them off as illegitimate. "So I have decided it's time that what I've been watching be called what I believe it is: racism." She continues, "The level of rage being expressed is different and out of sync with what we know from the past." I guess she was visiting Atlantis during the Bush years, or something.

And just in case anyone has missed the point, ABC has devoted a full story to the racist motives of the Obama protestors.

So there. The media and political elite have spoken. Any opposition to Obama means the protestor is a bad person. A person unable to see beyond the color of his skin. A racist. (Isn't that called profiling?)

Conveniently for these elites, they have also decided that responding to ignorant racists is quite beneath them. Being a racist is bad, therefore there is absolutely no need to respond to the underlying complaint. Whew.

This is the ultimate free pass. It almost makes me wish I had been born black. Then I could make any claims I want, without any facts to back them up, and still maintain the moral high ground. I could blame every bad decision I ever made on racism and, best of all, put my opponents in the impossible situation of trying to prove a negative.

I would gain membership in the ever growing class of 'victims', which automatically grants me immunity from the normal rules of civilized behavior.

The fact that Joe Wilson was quite correct in branding Obama a liar is not the point. By diverting the issue to racial animus, Obama's 'misstatement' is conveniently overlooked. This is called a win-win situation.

Wilson's audacity in branding Obama a liar has caused a national firestorm. The left is in high dudgeon, quickly spinning the truth of Wilson's (admittedly disrespectful) assertion into a condemnation of his integrity, topping it off with the unprecedented act of issuing a formal rebuke from the House. Bad boy! (Can I say that?)

Not mentioned in this national brou haha is Sen Reid's Dec 15, 2004 statement, where he called called President Bush a liar. "President Bush is a liar. He betrayed Nevada and he betrayed the country."

I guess its OK to call white guys liars. Even when they can't come up with any specific lie. Its just something everyone knows. Bush lied. Strangely enough, I've never been taken up on my challenge to pay $100.00 to anyone who can cite a specific lie that Bush told. I digress.

Also not included in the conversation the left is successfully controlling, is President Obama's statement last week branding Kanye West a jackass. But, hey, West is black...this is starting to get confusing.

I'm in awe of the left. Though they have admitted not knowing the details of the 1,000 plus pages of the Obama health care 'reform', they have managed to divine what is in my heart. And the hearts of millions of others. And it's called racism.

Despite having elected a black president, the left would have us believe that the millions of whites who voted for Obama still hate black people. They would have us believe that, even though we can't see it, racism is still a dominant force in America. Its just evolved into the silent 'institutional' kind of racism that no one can quantify. But it's still there. I guess we just have to take their word for it. If we dare question their premise, we're racists. Game, set and match.

Poor Nancy. As I recall, she is outraged that there is a Black History Month, as well.

A few points:

Rasmussen Polls are notoriously right-biased, so I'd be curious about the other polls, like Zogby.

Maureen Dowd is despised as an opportunist by the left. Most lefties prefer Krugman, Rich, and Bob Herbert, if we're talking NYT. We take anything that
that kook Dowd says with a huge grain of salt.

It wasn't 2 million protesters, you idiot. It's been
repeatedly pointed out that it wasn't even 100,00.
Michelle Malkin just pulled "two million" out of her ass, and the kneejerkers just ran with it.

Many Obama protesters ARE racist. Can you admit that? No? Didn't think so.

And what IS your underlying complaint? You can't even articulate it.

"Joe" Wilson was not correct to say that Obama lied.
That he was typically boorish is not the issue. He was flat out wrong in his assumption.

Kanye West was a jackass. You wanna call him a jackass, knock yourself the hell out. Doesn't make you a racist in this instance.

"Despite having elected a black president, the left would have us believe that the millions of whites who voted for Obama still hate black people. They would have us believe that, even though we can't see it, racism is still a dominant force in America."

The above quote is so shamefully disingenuous, I am appalled.

Conclusion: you really ARE a racist and you're just trying to play your own victim card.

Fail again.

Thank you, Gruaud, summed it up nicely as usual.

We can debate Pres. Carter's assertion all we like, but he's a southern white man, and he knows racism when he sees it. Period. All you need to know is that Addison "Joe" Wilson was a hold out over continuing to fly the confederate flag over the SC State House as recently as 7 years ago. He also said that Jesse Helms' biracial daughter should've STFU and not revealed who her father was bc it was a "stain" on Helmes' ever so "stirling reputation." Addison "Joe" said this ever AFTER the rest of Helmes' family publically acknowledged this woman with no shame.

Eff You, Nancy Morgan. YOU LIE! YOU are an arrogant white southern racist.

Yes, teabaggers are entitled to their opinions, and I defend their right to protest and voice their opinions. Please do so.

However, we're all getting mightly sick and tired of these victimized whiners throwing two-year-old temper tantrums bc they're not getting "their way." Plus, like White Supremiscist Nancy Morgan, they LIE, and lately they LIE all the friggin' time. The whopper of a lie about the attendance at their silly tea party on the Wash DC Mall last weekend is just one of literally 100s of examples just over the past few weeks. Fer gawd's sake, none of us can take any of you seriously bc you're just so full of shit.

Do you REALLY have ANY reason to complain? Or are you just making idiotic spectacles of yourselves simply bc you can?? Frankly, I have NO IDEA what your "problems" or "real complaints" are (other than that you're all a bunch of nasty self-absorbed, selfish shits).

Are all teabaggers racists (besides Morgan, who CLEARLY is a racist)? No. But those who are NOT racists deserve the epitath by hanging around with RACISTS who protest with clearly RACIST signs and/or - as we see here frequently - send out clearly RACIST emails.

If you don't like to be called a RACIST, then perhaps you need to consider the company you keep. And that's YOUR problem, not mine.

Plus the ersatz (and it IS made up) "oh noes" feigned outrage over absolutely everything has gone beyond ridiculous into the the absurd.

Please. Do yourself and the rest of us a big favor, Ms. Southern White Entitled Racist Bitch Morgan and shut the fuck up. Permanently.

Wow this is bad.

First of all, let's be very clear: Joe Wilson is in the wrong here. Not just because he rudely insulted the President of the United States on national television. Bad as that is, its not nearly as important as the fact that HE WAS WRONG! Obama wasn't lying or "misstating", he was correct.

As for calling Bush a liar: is he not? Did Iraq have WMDs? Were they a threat to us? No and No.

The end paragraph is the worst.

"Despite having elected a black president, the left would have us believe that the millions of whites who voted for Obama still hate black people"

Is this woman a total idiot? Yes, millions of white people voted for Obama (myself included). But you know what? Millions also didn't vote for Obama, and while some of them, or even or majority of them, might be racist, you have to be blind not to see that many of them are deathly afraid of having a black president.

Ten seconds of reading the signs at a teabagger rally will make that fact abundantly clear, not to mention all the racist anti-Obama emails that we see floating around the interwebs.

Good points, gruaud.

I think the quote in question is much more accurate with simple editing:

"Despite having elected a black president .... racism is still a dominant force in America."

Indeed, Dave, you're right, as you well know given some of the disgusting RWF's we've seen here. We've even had blog discussions about whether you should post some of these emails bc of how abjectly appalling they are.

But my recollection is that most/all of us want you to post even the most vile racist RWFs so we can all be aware of exactly what is going on.

So this "pundit" (or whatever she wants to call herself) is full of it, and Dave's edited sentence sums it up quite correctly.

gruaud said...

Thx, guys. These kinds of RWF's just get the steam whistling out of my ears.

Anon, which blog discussions are these?

If I have time, I'd like to join in, if I may.

Gruaud: earlier in the summer, we had a "blog discussion" on THIS blog about whether Dave should keep displaying some of the more egregiously racist RWFs he got or not. The general agreement was that, while we found some RWFs particularly disgusting to see/witness, we wanted them displayed.

I'm not sure of other good blogs to go to. I don't have lots of time, so I generally swing by DailyKos, and if I want some yucks I go read a few posts on Wonkette (which can be hilarious).

I know if I showed up at a teabagging event with a sign that said "GW Bush killed 30,000 Iraqi Babies" My sign (and maybe myself) would be shredded to powder in moments.

So when the guy next to you is proudly displaying a horribly racist sign and you do nothing at all but stand there next to him --well I think we can assume that you are OK with that sign and you are OK with racism. And it doesn't matter at all if you didn't write it.

Oh, and RWs LOVE that word "firestorm." It's almost a trigger for me that what I'm about to hear is total Bulls***

Agreed w/the prevailing feeling here: many who attend these town halls and rallies probably aren't (that) racist & may not be motivated (much) by BHO's race.

However, the old addage applies: if you lie down with dogs, you wake up w/fleas.

OR: you will be known by the company you keep.

It's pretty simple, really, but then again, this is brought to you by the what's-my-whine-du-jour crowd.

Good comment string. NPR had a conservative African-American commentator on the other evening in which he essentially disavowed calling people racists becaue, for the most part, you never actually "know" the motivations.

This is largely true (Klansman and other clear cut hate groups aside), but I think it glosses over some really desplorable language and tone (I think most notably by the Birthers, who went from something simple like "Is there a paper copy of the certificate?" (a stupid, but innoncent enough question) to "He's a Kenyan citizen" pretty fast. Big gap there.

ferschitz said...

Trust NPR to come up w/some AA to disavow racism! Sheesh. Whatever.

Yeah, yeah, there ARE differences and NOT all teabaggers are that racist, but yes, the incendiary language & how quickly these claims transform from something kinda/sorta "reasonable" into something clearly insane is what makes it ALL seem very racist.

Again: IF these teabaggers don't like to be called a racist, THEN they need to: a) tamp down the incendiary language, or b) distance themselves from it.

Most of the leftie blogs I visit, esp DailyKos, tend to monitor incendiary left language fairly effectively. It CAN be done.

I think that, here, we're all on the same page w/this.

If it LOOKS & SOUNDS racist, then it IS racist. Teabaggers need to deal w/that fact.

Is that any relation to the Philadelphia Inquirer, which is an actual newspaper?
