For the first time in history, the Democratic Congress will not allow an increase in the Social Security COLA (cost of living adjustment). In fact, The Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation predicts there may not be any COLA for the next three years. However, the per person monthly Medicare insurance premium will be increased from the 2009 premium of $96.40 to $104.20 in 2010 for the year 2011. Send this to all your senior friends and remind them to remember this at the next election and vote out those who voted for this.

Ok, here is a forward that actually concerns me. Don't faint!

First, the back story:
http://www.nytimes.com/2009/05/03/us/politics/03benefits.html

The reasoning is that inflation will not be a factor, so energy and goods will be stable. However, I'm
not sure I agree. This will hurt the seniors via food and healthcare. (another reason to reform healthcare)

Give the seniors their COLA and you will keep a powerful bloc happy. Keep hitting at the uber-rich and the corporations!!!

Now to expose the bullshittiness of this forward:

Aren't Social Security COLA's a form of socialism, Repukes? Don't we all make choices that lead to good or bad outcomes and if the outcome is bad...screw you, I got mine? Isn't that your little
mantra?

Trying to have it both ways, as always.

Well now, can't we all go on at length ad nauseum, but I'll just say: brought to you by the puppet-masters of our teabagging friends who certainly don't want any of teh poors or dirty messicans or "n" words getting any this heah health ins, lordy no sir!

And brought to you by those in the GOP, where there are many Pols, like Dickhead Armey (who I believe was very aggessively involved in this latest teabag march and many of the town hall nastyfests) who has constantly talked about cutting Social Security and Medicare altogether.

Hypocrit, much? Well, why even bring up hypocracy from the party whose photo is in the dictionary next to the definition of hypocracy??

Repukes have been the most vocal against Social Security and Medicare since both were introduced. In both cases, these programs were leading the US into communism and were going to be the death of all of us somehow. Now suddenly they are sacred bc they're a tool to scare unsuspecting seniors into being brainwashed for the GOP.

Brought to you also by the same LIARS, like Bible/Babble Spice & Chuck Grassly, who LIED constantly, loudly and long about purported "death panels" who were gonna get yer granny & chuck her down the chute if we got better health care for all. All in the name of riling up fearful Senior citizens - who have the time to protest bc they're not working any longer - to go shriek and scream at town halls about something that's not even true.

And now this: yes, this may happen. And so what? The cost of living hasn't gone up this year, and most of the rest of us who are lucky enough to have jobs are NOT getting COLAs or merit increases, either. Deal w/it. It's life. Everyone needs to bear the burden.

If these LYING spoogebuckets were REALLY concerned about Medicare increases then I say: do something about it. Brought to you by the LIARS who shriek and scream about tax cuts for the obscenely wealthy, but then whine when Seniors take a hit in Medicare.

Brought to you also by the LIARS who shriek & scream NOW about the deficit growing under BHO, but we're clapping and happy when W took a budget in the black into the largest budget deficit in US history.

Yes, the stimuluous is making the deficit even bigger, but what was BHO supposed to do w/the steaming pile of crap handed to him by Repukes??

So now if Seniors have to bear some of the burden, these LYING LIARS are shrieing it's unfair!

Clearly a political ploy brought to by the usual supsects of corporate overlords... yes Rupert Murdoch, I'm looking right at you, you bastard. And brought to by the same lying pieces of shit who dug the hole deeper under W. Yes, Karl Rove, I'm looking at you, you felon who should be in jail.

This is too bad, but the GOP has never been that supportive of either program & fought against both almost as energetically as they're fighting regulating Health Ins.

Right now it suits their pol. goals to appear "supportive" of both (bc Seniors will scream in public while being filmed on Fake "News") while strongly resisting taxing the extremely wealthy (a measure that would go a long way to solving the defiict).

The GOP wants to cut all programs except the military because they get lots of kick-backs from that.

Magically by not funding stuff like infrastructure and aid to the poor - while also not correcting the Health Ins issues - there will be enough for social sec & medicare. That's robbing peter to pay paul and results in other problems.

Stay tuned for next week's program where the GOP will want to get rid of Social Sec & Medicare again. Same old story, different day.

When my RW cousin sent me this one I was having a little trouble dredging up sympathy for him and the 5% COLA raise he's not getting next year.

My company has had to institute a 20% salary reduction for all, switched to a sucky health insurance plan, and still had to lay off some good people, finally the owners have been taking no salary for a few months to try and keep things going. And our kids keep outgrowing their clothes, needing braces, and getting sick. Unlike my sniveling cousin, those of us still employed are all grateful that we have a job!

Since 20% of my former pay is NOT going into the SS pool, I think he's getting quite a deal!

Sorry, needed to vent!

So, lemme get this straight.

Socialism is bad. "Spreading the wealth" is bad. Taking money from someone who earned it and giving it to someone who didn't is evil and un-American.

Except if its seniors. Then they should get free healthcare, free money, and a pony.

well hibryd they only pretend to "care" about seniors when it suits them. I realize you know that, but yeah, the cognitive dissonance is jarring. I keep thinking I'll get used to the conflicting "ideals" they seem to hold, but bc I'm not some crazed weird perverted teabagger, it's hard to be constantly illogical and nutty.

Seniors are the new "troops."

Repukes have moved on from slavishly "supporting" the troops now that an AA is Commander in Chief. The troops can, uh, go take a hike.

Rupert Murdoch & Karl Rove need a new meme/group to wave in leftwingers faces as the group to whom we all must now bow. So, now it's "Seniors." Don't worry, though, Rupert & Karl care as much as about the welfare of Seniors as did about the welfare of our troops, which is: less than zero.

Meet the new boss, same as the old boss...
