Fwd: BUCHANAN TO OBAMA

BUCHANAN TO OBAMA

By Patrick J. Buchanan

Barack says we need to have a conversation about race in America . Fair enough. But this time, it has to be a two-way conversation. White America needs to be heard from, not just lectured to.. This time, the Silent Majority needs to have its convictions, grievances and demands heard. And among them are these:
First, America has been the best country on earth for black folks. It was here that 600,000 black people, brought from Africa in slave ships, grew into a community of 40 million, were introduced to Christian salvation, and reached the greatest levels of freedom and prosperity blacks have ever known. Wright ought to go down on his knees and thank God he is an American. Second, no people anywhere has done more to lift up blacks than white Americans. Untold trillions have been spent since the ' 60s on welfare, food stamps, rent supplements, Section 8 housing, Pell grants, student loans, legal services, Medicaid, Earned Income Tax Credits and poverty programs designed to bring the African-American community into the mainstream. Governments, businesses and colleges have engaged in discrimination against white folks -- with affirmative action, contract set-asides and quotas -- to advance black applicants over white applicants. Churches, foundations, civic groups, schools and individuals all over America have donated their time and money to support soup kitchens, adult education, day care, retirement and nursing homes for blacks. We hear the grievances. Where is the gratitude??? Barack talks about new 'ladders of opportunity' for blacks. Let him go to Altoona ? And Johnstown , and ask the white kids in Catholic schools how many were visited lately by Ivy League recruiters handing out scholarships for 'deserving' white kids.? Is white America really responsible for the fact that the crime and incarceration rates for African-Americans are seven times those of white America ? Is it really white America 's fault that illegitimacy in the African-American community has hit 70 percent and the black dropout rate from high schools in some cities has reached 50 percent? Is that the fault of white America or, first and foremost, a failure of the black community itself? As for racism, its ugliest manifestation is in interracial crime, and especially interracial crimes of violence. Is Barack Obama aware that while white criminals choose black victims 3 percent of the time, black criminals choose white victims 45 percent of the time? Is Barack aware that black-on-white rapes are 100 times more common than the reverse, that black-on-white robberies were 139 times as common in the first three years of this decade as the reverse? We have all heard ad nauseam from the Rev. Al about Tawana Brawley, the Duke rape case and Jena . And all turned out to be hoaxes. But about the epidemic of black assaults on whites that are real, we hear nothing. Sorry, Barack, some of us have heard it all before, about 40 years and 40 trillion tax dollars ago.
We are a Christian Nation even if Mr. Obama says we are not.
This needs to be passed around because, this is a message everyone needs to hear!!!

Those crazy blacks! The way they complain about inequality, you'd think they're slaves or something!

Is white America really responsible for the fact that the crime and incarceration rates for African-Americans are seven times those of white America ?

Funny that for all the noise made about the Community Reinvestment Act ruining the economy 30 years later, conservatives forget the one practice it was written to discourage: systematically tearing down black communities in large cities like Detroit, even into the 1990s.

It's not Obama, but the 1776(?) Treaty of Tripoli which says we are not.

Yanno, those same "Christian" founding fathers.

So much wrong here. Hey Pat, Rev. Wright is a veteran who served this country well. Have you gotten down on your knees to thank him for his service?

Jena was a Hoax?

And since when do we hear "nothing" about black on white crime? Seems to me its on the news just about every day, in addition to being a common theme used in TV and movies.

As for Section 8 housing, the war on poverty and all that, much has been spent but most has been misspent. Money for public housing has been and continues to to be poorly spent in ways that builds ghettos and creates deeper divisions between whites and blacks. Of course, we might not have even needed public housing if blacks had been allowed to get homeloans and buy houses of their own with the same heavy government subsidies given to white citizens.

So much more to talk about, but what's the point?

I was raised in a town in southeastern North Carolina, and I know it's hard to believe for a lot of people, but there are still places in the US where Jim Crow is alive and kicking. Our real estate agent almost wouldn't sell us our house because, as she confided to us, we had a "black" last name. See, it was on the "right" side of Main St. The houses were *houses* and one to a lot. Nice yards, well repaired streets, etc. The "wrong" side had trailers sometimes three to a lot. The rent was cheaper, because emergency vehicles couldn't reach some of those trailers. It wasn't a poor/rich divide, either. The white people's trailers were on the "right" side, and wouldn't you know it they had emergency vehicle access and yards.

I'm only 17, so you know this wasn't decades ago. I was one of eight white children in my poor, backwoods elementary school. I had one art lesson and one music lesson the entire time I went there. There was no gym. The playground was one of those really old, silver metal and rust types. Rich white parents in the area sent their kids off to private school, so they certainly didn't give a damn about the quality of public school educations. MOST people in town were below the poverty line. High school drop outs and teen pregnancies were incredibly common. Hardly anyone goes to college.

And that's all I can think about when people start talking about how racism is over, and black communities are in the shape they are despite all that whites have given them. (For example, EVERY property in the town was owned by a white person. Look at the white man giving blacks cheap rent--as long as they stay on their side of town...)

It's not about "white america" and "black america" anymore. Blacks aren't any different from whites except they've got a bit of a tan that labels them as an idiot, a criminal, etc. It's about the USA and the fact that some white Americans think the best way to elevate a formerly mass-enslaved minority group is to give them things and demand gratitude for any basic necessities provided to them like a parent would of its child.

"ask the white kids in Catholic schools how many were visited lately by Ivy League recruiters handing out scholarships for 'deserving' white kids."

Reminds me of a editorial comic. There's a lineup of 4 "affirmative action" college students: Legacy Kid, Rich Kid, the Sports Star, and an Inner-city Black kid. The "Rejected Applicant" is pointing squarely at the black kid and yelling "it's HIS fault!"

Funny how people like Buchanan are perfectly fine with privileged white kids getting into schools they don't belong in.

Not that I think Buchanan actually wrote this.

Oh, I wouldn't be surprised. Buchanan is a grade-A douchebag and a hard racist to boot. You need look no further than the "statistics" he's spouting off about blacks committing crimes against whites for that.

Oh, shit, he actually did:

I mean, what we've got here is an edited version, but it's still astounding how factually wrong-headed it is.

"the best country on earth for black folks"? Really, Pat? You know how much earlier England freed the slaves than we did? Do you remember anything about fire hoses and dogs turning on English black people? When you dismissively say "some of us have heard it all before, about 40 years ... ago" are you attacking the very real claims made 40 years ago or saying that's all been swept away by now? Did you even watch the same presidential election the rest of us did, with monkey signs and N words and "sekret muslim" getting thrown around at deep south McCain rallies?

Buchanan is a dinosaur.

His eventual extinction will be mourned by few Americans.

I just spent the weekend in email communication w/numerous Republicans (long story), and they're whole sniveling whine is that THEY are certainly NOT racists, and yet this kind of swill gets pushed out there and they all clap and cheer.

These folks fight really hard to remain clueless and indifferent and find all kinds of "teh horror" stories to back up their ingrained racism, elitism & self-serving self-righteousness.

At the end of the day, all it's about is MONEY: how much do the entitled rich white elite get to keep (in various ways, including LEGACY brats getting into Ivy Leagues, like W), and how much can the elites keep AWAY FROM others, esp minorities.

Bleah: I'm sure Buchanon wrote this. did ya see what he said about Sotomayor last week. That guy's a GRADE A cretin, and I have turn off even the Rachel Maddow show if his ugly mug is on the screen. Triple UGH!!!!!!!

Dear White America,

Thanks for (begrudingly) treating us like human beings.

Really sick of the "lovable old Uncle Pat" routine on MSNBC. After his performance on Maddow last week they should fire his sorry ass. Steve Capus (NBC News Pres.) should be ashamed of himself.

Frankly whenever Unca Pat shows up on MSNBC, including on Rachel Maddow, I turn off my tv. I have written to Rachel, Keith Olberman & MSNBC to protest his sorry ass being dragged out into the public sphere.

I simply disagree w/MSNBC feeling that they have to "balance" out their programming with the sick, white racist point of view.

Spare me. If I want the unbridled racist point of view, I can switch over to Faux Nutwork at any given moment in the day, I will see it unfettered in all it's digustingness. (vomit)

So, my solution is to turn off the teevee, even if it's a show I normally watch. Enough is enough of this racist, disgusting slime bag. "Unca" Pat, my ass. He belongs to the KKK.

Not gonna answer each of his oh-so-clever questions, but basically it boils down to this.

Yes, Pat. It is OUR fault as white people. We started this and we continue it and whenever things get even the tiniest bit better, people like you try to make them worse again. White Privilege is the only thing separating you from the treatment you think Rev. Wright deserves.

And No. We are not a Christian nation. Even all of you and your cronies have decided on the whole Judeo-Christian thing recently. (That historically makes even less sense, really, but at least it is a tad more inclusive. I am trying to decide if the next "no atheists allowed" move will be Abrahamic nation or Judeo-Christo-Pagan.)

To sum up: Fuck you Pat.

"Uncle Pat" makes my stomach turn.
The sickest part of this rant...
"...no people anywhere has done more to lift up blacks than white Americans....food stamps, rent supplements, Section 8 housing, Pell grants, student loans..."

I'm sure African Americans would have traded all of the above for a few simple things: an equal chance at every job; equal amounts of money spent on education in EVERY school district; equal justice under the law...

Pat is a barbarian wearing the cloak of civility. He may wear a suit but he belongs in animal fur wielding a bone mallet.

To Bebe: agreed, but I'd go even further, perhaps, and say: AA would have given it all up to avoid the horrors of middle passage and becoming enslaved.

Let's get real: whoever would want that?

And whyever should anyone be "grateful" for it? This is just sickening.

First, all those programs stated by Mr. Buchanan were created for white americans, the fact remains that today more WHITE americans are on walfare than blacks (goggle it!), more whites have joined white sup groups since Obama's been in office! What's your justification for putting obama on a FOOD STAMP dollar other than to to justify a white mans ego! GET A LIFE!!!!!
