Subject: FW: OBAMA: "Islam has always been a part of America's story"]

OBAMA said, in his Cairo speech: "I know, too, that Islam has always been
a part of America's story.

Dear Mr. Obama:

Were those muslims that were in America when the Pilgrims first landed?
Funny, I thought they were Native American Indians.

Were those muslims that celebrated the first Thanksgiving day? Sorry
again, those were Pilgrims and Native American Indians.

Can you show me one muslim signature on the United States Constitution?
Declaration of Independence? Bill of Rights? Didn't think so.

Did muslims fight for this country's freedom from England? No.

Did muslims fight during the Civil War to free the slaves in America? No,
they did not. In fact, muslims to this day are still the largest
trafficers in human slavery. Your own 'half brother' a devout muslim still
advocates slavery himself, even though muslims of arabic descent refer to
black muslims as "pug nosed slaves." Says a lot of what the muslim world
really thinks of your family's "rich islamic heritage" doesn't it Mr.
Obama?

Where were muslims during the Civil Rights era of this country? Not
present. There are no pictures or media accounts of muslims walking side
by side with Martin Luther King Jr. or helping to advance the cause of
Civil Rights.

Where were muslims during this country's Woman's Suffrage era? Again, not
present. In fact, devout muslims demand that women are subservient to men
in the islamic culture. So much so that often they are beaten for not
wearing the 'hajib' or for talking to a man that is not a direct family
member or their husband. Yep, them muslims are all for women's rights
aren't they?

Where were muslims during World War II? They were aligned with Adolf
Hitler. The muslim grand mufti himself met with Adolf Hitler, reviewed the
troops and accepted support from the Nazi's in killing Jews.

Finally Mr. Obama, where were muslims on Sept. 11th, 2001? If they weren't
flying planes into the World Trade Center, the Pentagon or a field in
Pennsylvania killing more than 3,000 people on our own soil, they were
rejoicing in the middle east. No one can dispute the pictures shown from
all parts of the muslim world celebrating on CNN, Fox News, MSNBC and
other news networks that day. Strangely, the very "moderate" muslims who's
asses you bent over backwards to kiss in Cairo, Egypt yesterday June 4th
were stone cold silent post 9-11. To many of us Americans, their silence
has meant approval for the acts of that day.

And THAT, Mr. Obama, is the "rich heritage" muslims have here in America.
Your made-up history as told in Cairo yesterday is simply that, the
fiction that exists in your own mind.

No, just shaking hands. That's one of the more impressively ignorant statements I've ever read.

And that's just a repugnant lie.

Were there Jews in America when the Pilgrims landed? Were any of the Pilgrims Jews? How about celebrating that first Thanksgiving? Or signing the Constitution? This is important.

Seriously though, it must be crap-on-Muslims day here at MRWD.

From the actual speech:

I know, too, that Islam has always been a part of America's story. The first nation to recognize my country was Morocco. In signing the Treaty of Tripoli in 1796, our second President John Adams wrote, "The United States has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion or tranquility of Muslims." And since our founding, American Muslims have enriched the United States. They have fought in our wars, served in government, stood for civil rights, started businesses, taught at our Universities, excelled in our sports arenas, won Nobel Prizes, built our tallest building, and lit the Olympic Torch. And when the first Muslim-American was recently elected to Congress, he took the oath to defend our Constitution using the same Holy Koran that one of our Founding Fathers - Thomas Jefferson - kept in his personal library.

What, exactly is so fucking controversial about this? Is he making things up? No. Is he trying to say that Muslims have been a majority group in America? No. Everything he said was the truth.

This isn't even a matter of misquoting Obama or taking things out of context. This is straight up hateful ignorance. I suppose we should be used to it by now.

Djur,

Remember Black Muslims don't count for some reason. In the wingnut world Muslim=Arab=Terrorist.

fiction that exists in your own mind."

No, the made-up fugly racist nastiness of this stinking pile of b.s. screed is the fiction that exists in the very narrow & twisted minds of millions of racist wingtards across this nation.

And I just HAVE to say it: maybe some Muslim "grand mufti" met w/Hitler, but who knows if he "approved of killing Jews" or not. But wake up to the fact that many in the USA & Great Britain sucked up to Hitler, did lots of money-making business w/him happily, disbelieved that the Holocaust was happening, didn't help or support the jews, etc, ad nauseum. The USA pretty much stayed out of the war until Pearl Harbor happened, and that still pisses off many in Europe and Australia.

Get your frackin' facts straight.

Yeah: might as well tell that to a brick wall. The wall is more likely to "listen" than some racist wingtard.

Speaking of strange bedfellows, Israel was very close to apartheid South Africa. What do you suppose they had in common?

Obama was wrong about at least one thing in his speech. Keith Ellison did not take his oath on the Qur'an. He took his oath on nothing, along with all the other new congressmen, and then posed with the Qur'an later for photos.

So in other words all those pictures of seig-heiling Catholic priests is proof that Catholics "accepted support from the Nazi's [sic] in killing Jews?"

Does this mean that the anti-British Irgun terrorist organization in Israel in the 1930s and 1940s was objectively pro-nazi?

Inquiring minds want to know!

1. The small percentage of the American right wing who have *heard* of the Treaty of Tripoli absolutely *hate* it worse than they hate Muslimy Muslims covered in Muslim Sauce, because of the first sentence of Article 11: "As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion...."

2. There is not, and hasn't been, a person who could be called "The muslim grand mufti". That's like referring to "The christian bishop" and expecting someone to realize you mean Bernardino C. Cortez, assistant Bishop of the Archdiocese of Manila. The person in the photograph is the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, a fairly minor figure in 1942.

(The Turks and Arabs did have a shameful position towards the Jews during World War II: they didn't want Jews resettled from Germany into lands that they felt had been stolen from them after World War I. In this, they were much like most of the nations of Europe and the Americas, which didn't accept many Jewish refugees.)

Expecting nuanced discussion of Muslims from moonbat e-mails, of course, is much like expecting nuanced discussion of kosher cooking from a starving dog. But still--it's like they want to be proven wrong.

womzilla: thanks for the update on the "Grand Mufti." I figured it was something like that, but with these idiotic emails, I get tired of going out to look up stuff to disprove the lies & b.s.

And also: right on to your last paragraph (all of it). It is almost like the WANT to be disproven bc their lies are simply so craven. But then again, with Caribou Barbie as their new spokesmodel, I dunno. Nearly everything that emerges from her mouth is a bald face lie, and her slavering worshipping base shrieks in ecstacsy. Don't. get. it.

Only a real racist asshole would make so much out of an out-of-context statement.
Now read it IN CONTEXT:

Obama Speech to Muslims in Cairo

Remarks of President Barack Obama
A New Beginning
Cairo, Egypt
June 4, 2009

I know, too, that Islam has always been a part of America’s story.
The first nation to recognize my country was Morocco. In signing the Treaty of Tripoli in 1796, our
second President John Adams wrote, "The United States has in itself no character of enmity
against the laws, religion or tranquility of Muslims."

(And earlier in the speech,)

I am a Christian, but my father came from a Kenyan family that includes generations of Muslims.
