Leave it to Maxine...

Do you know what happened this week
back in 1850, 15

  • California became a state.
  • The State had no electricity.
  • The State had no money.
  • Almost everyone spoke Spanish.
  • There were gunfights in the streets.

So basically, it was just like California today;

except the women had real breasts and the men didn't hold hands.

CA's electrical rates were artifically & outrageously increased some years ago by the Bush crime syndicate (w/Ken Lay's "help")via Enron ('member them?). And Ahhhnold the great Rethuglican governator never did a d@mn thing about it... so, yeah: thanks rePUKES, it's refreshing to have your assistance with this blatant rip-off of my money.

I could care less if men hold hands and women have breast implants... (which they do all over the country, btw, and not just in CA)...

Yoo hoo... everyone "used to" speak Spanish 159 years ago bc "California" didn't exist, ya butthead. This part of the world was Mexico then. What did you expect Mexicans to speak? DUH!

Sheesh. The sheer ignorance would be breath-taking, if we hadn't had to witness it all so many times before.

And I, for one, have no problem with Spanish speakers now. Get used to the fact that we live in a global economy. Everyone in the USA should know at least one language other than English, and frankly, Spanish is a lot easier to learn than many other languages.

What a buncha knuckle-draggers.

I'm sure I've seen this one before, and I can't remember if it was on this website or not. Oh well.

As for the claims, men (and women - why does everyone forget about the queer ladies? :( ) were holding hands and all sorts of other things back then too. Maybe not so often in the street - but the text doesn't specify "in public" so ner. And as for the breasts, obviously the surgical means hadn't been perfected, but women wore such astonishing underwear (corsetry, yes, and crinolines or a million petticoats at that point), an onlooker could not quite be sure what she would look like "naturally". So it's quite true that there is, in fact, nothing new under the sun. More so than the writers of these idiot things realise.

Hahaha! Remember when Enron ripped off the state of California, plunged them into rolling black outs, and the Republicans used that awful mess to get another actor elected? Haha... fun times.

After a quick check of Wikipedia, California did in facte become a state in 1850, but on September the ninth. Time traveling email... hehe.
Leave it to Maxine... oi, even a fictional RW character makes my stomach retch.

Well call me crazy, but unless I'm mistaken the California GOLD rush was what precipitated CA's statehood and that was in 1849.

Idiots.

I've got a better one.

Deseret had no paved roads, no running water, no elected government, everyone had more than one wife, alcohol was illegal, and the age of consent was 12.

So in other words nothing's changed, except now it's called "Utah." Oh, and the age of consent is 14.
